The ABA has been around for a few years, but it has struggled. Many of the franchises have been underfinanced and live from day-to-day. One team forfeited a playoff game last spring because it said its travel schedule was too tough.

Many of the teams try to sign some local players as attractions, and probably they only pay a few hundred a week. Players come from all over the country otherwise -- big schools to small.

The ABA is a very poorly run minor league that will likely go out of business under its current business model.
