my 96 lesabre's HVAC works fine - until you accelerate. the air is then directed to the floor, and after you maintain that engine speed for a while, OR lef off the gas, the air will then return to the vents.

ALL of the vents in the HVAC system are vacuum contoleed. when you stomp on the gas, the vacuum in the HVAC system changes and your vents flip-flop for a minute.

Either live with it (hey it`s a 10 year old car) or pay someone to find out what tube is leaking or which check valve has quit,

or quit stomping on the gas! You cant race people in a Buick!

well when you accelerate you change engine vacuum, when you get to a cruising speed or let off the vacuum increases. I am wondering if your vacuum canister has a leak in it.......
