Especially on the freeway. Sometimes I see almost the whole strip or the whole peice of the wheel on the freeway. how the hell did that fall off? I also see tons of wheels. Are people that crappy driverss?

recaps from semi truck tires...they put new tread on old tire carcass...sometimes the bonding doesnt hold,,,and flies off going down road....

semi-trucks use recapped tires. Sometimes the bonding doesn't hold and the outer tread comes off. That is what you are seeing. About any other tires I couldn't tell ya.

The others are correct. I was west bound on I-44 in Missouri once and a Coca-Cola truck/trailer was ahead of me. I saw a big slice peel off the inside left rear and hit my brakes. If I hadn't, the piece would have hit my windshield. As it was, it hit the road and slid for several feet and I drove around it.

Semi trucks use recapped tires. Every now and then, the tires will lose the rubber. That is what you are seeing.
