I have a 3.55 at a private school, but my ACT and SAT scores are certainly lacking. What does THAT tell colleges about me?

If you are interested in a Western school retake the ACTs, if you are interested in an Easter schol retake the SATs...don't take both again.

I think what this tells a good college is that you have test anxiety! Get a book on the test from the library or your school counselor to help you prepare and no doubt your score will improve! Also, keep in mind that these scores are only one piece of the puzzle when it comes to college admissions. I would also include an essay with your application which should be very well written :o) (even if it isn't required)--it shows initiative.

Good luck to you!

I think you are really close to getting into the college you seek. Most colleges have certain ACT and SAT scores that are needed for admission, which may or may not be higher than your current ACT score. I would recommend studying and retaking the ACT. You might also consider taking the SAT as well.

Its going to be hard, especially if you go out of state. A lot of colleges will use test scores to determine between students of equal calibur my advice - buy a study guide, get a good night's rest, a great breakfast and take the tests again.

Your GPA will help, but the ACT scores are important too, I only had a 2.75 cumulative but my ACT was 28, so I got accepted to some great schools anyway.

Good luck!

I got into a great College with a 21 ACT and a 3.0 GPA. I think your 3.55 and 19 ACT will get you into a good college just fine.

Either that you don't test well, that you are an overachiever, or that your school grades too easily. If I were you, I would take a test prep course and retake the tests. There may be a school which will ignore them, but if you can broaden your options, you have a far better chance of getting in some place that you really want to attend.

It tells colleges that you ARE a good student but one who just had a REALLY bad morning.

Tests like those are flukes. I know people who had like a 2.0 in H.S and made a 2110 on the SAT and their basically dumb as a box of rocks
