I liked it very much. Some of it was funny and some of it was so sad that I wanted to cry.
I want to be a doctor someday. There is something very sick about a system where doctors are rewarded for giving less care! I want to be able to treat people when they need it.
I disagree with Sicko about health care in different countrys. I don't know much about Britain or France but Sicko makes it look like Canada and Cuba have perfect health care systems and no problems and I know that they don't.
For example re Cuba health care: I know it is hard to believe but it is very good. Cuba has very good medical research. Cuban doctors go to countries all over the world to treat people. And people go to Cuba for treatmant.
My problem is that Sicko makes it look like the Cuban system is perfect. Health care is free for Cubans but they they don't have much else that is good in Cuba. And health care is never free for real there is always a cost.
There is a medical equipment shortage in Cuba and people have to wait to use them and they probably have to go to Habana. There are often shortages of medicines and many are not free. If you are in the hospital a friend or relative has to get your food and clothes and things and get some things for the doctor. And foreigners with euros get the best health care and hospitals.
I liked Sicko. But people should know that it is very biased.

Have yet to see it.
What I do know is that the USA is the richest country in the world, but has one of the worst life expectancy rates in the western world.
It is so bad, that on average, you will love longer if you are born in Puerto Rico.
Do not get me wrong, US health care great if you can pay, or your insurance company pays out. But if it does not, you are in trouble.
In the UK, we have the NHS which provides health care to all. In addition, you can also take out private health insurance. So by having the National Health Service, you are not restricted to using it, and by having health insurance, you are still allowed to use the NHS.
Prescription charges here are about $10.00 per item, no matter how expensive the drug is. If you are poor, pregnant, a new mother, elderly, a child, or have certain medical conditions you do not have to pay for that. (It is also free in Wales, and will probably soon be free in Scotland.)
I am looking forwards to watching it.

Im sure that he is simply trying to make a point that there is a problem, I think he over glorifies the canadian system, but movies a Micheal Moore is a good way to bring an issue to the public and make them get concerned and make them want to do something about it.

I liked it. It's not exactly a scholarly analysis, but it doesn't pretend to be. He shined a much-needed light on the horrible inequities in the American health care system. It has already prompted more serious inquiries, and that's a good thing. I hope it's the beginning of some desperately needed change. When so much of the world manages to provide for all of their citizens regardless of income, our health care system makes me ashamed.

It was entertaining and interesting, like all micheal moore films...but the specific scenerios of people who can't get health care are disturbing. Why can't we have free health care? Where is all of our trillion dollars in tax money going?

I've only seen reviews.... but it brings to public attention something that anyone in the health care industry already knew -- the health care industry has some serious problems.

I know it was one sided, but the truth is, americans should be ashamed of themselves, for deneying health care to anyone...
Jesus healed the sick, fed the hungry and loved thy neighbor..
We need to start looking at ways to better the nation.. and not be so self centered we loose sight of what it means to be part of a socieity...a community...
