after watching 20/20's stupid in America :

I've come 2 realize how stupid the american education system is.. and how schools abroad are WAY advanced than us.. shouldn't our government take this into consideration by decreasing high school dropouts and decreasing the price of college so that more people go to college! in the end its helping the well-being of our country...

You are 100% right!!!! It's funny because they want everyone to be educated and without one there really is no chance of getting a well paying job yet a lot of people can not afford it. Financial Aid, I might be wrong about this but they only help the poor. If you are middle class you make too much for any assistance. They look at your anual salary and tell you you make too much. Yet they fail to understand that if the avarage person makes 40 thousand a year that majority of that money goes towards paying rent, bills, food and everyday necessities. With these prices how can anyone afford an education...except for the rich?

I do think that American college is a bit too expensive, but I have no idea what you do about the problem. You obviously cannot fix the problem with private schools. Also, if the state provided college education for free (like it does in Germany), we'd just be paying for it with out tax dollars.

When I finished my Bachelor's I had no loans to repay, but when I finished law school, I had $75,000 in loans to pay back. Expensive? Yes, but it was worth it. I agree that we should lower the costs of higher education. I don't know what they could do about the high school drop-outs. Some people think they are above education, and some people have other reason's for not finishing high school.

I agree that it is very expensive, but costs of everything keep rising, as do expectations for what students will get for the money. Most colleges are not getting rich off of their students, even if the tuition is high. The alternative is for taxpayers to pick up more of the bill at public colleges, but instead, they keep wanting to pay lower taxes.

Yes colleges and universities are expensive, but oh well, in order to get ahead you need a good education. I go to a private college and my total cost for a year is around $32,000. I know it is expensive but I believe it will all be worth it one day.

yeah pretty much.
The credit card and loan companies love it because kids get a lifetime habit of using debt starting with paying for college.

yes i completely agree that college is too expensive. i am paying $42,000 a year for room and board and to take my classes at a private college. however, there are community colleges that only charge $5,000 a year. i think students should take advantage of the city and state colleges more often.

Yeah, but that's how the game is played. You gamble, borrow that much money, and bet that what you are able to earn because of your degree will more than make up for what you borrowed to get it.
