I was always nervous and didn't want to go fast. I thought the speed limit should be 30 instead of 45 and I always drive in the middle if there is more than 2 lanes. Has what happened in Minnesota caused more dread about driving over bridges?

Little country bridges, no. Mackinac Bridge because of it's length, the distance to the water below, and the depth of that water, yes.

When you know the bid for the work goes to the lowest bidder you can't help but wonder about the quality of the materials used and the work that was done.

I am also concerned about politicians who do not listen to the professionals when they report that something is not safe. There is always and ever a concern about the money needed to make something safe. Funny that politicians never show that same concern when one of them retires and is given millions of tax payer dollars to live on.

I have always been afraid to drive over bridges, especially the little old country type.
I believe that the mishap in Minnesota has caused many of it's citizens to be very apprehensive about driving over bridges. I believe that this will make many of us wonder if there's a different route, other than a bridge.

I've never been apprehensive about bridges, and I guess I still won't be, although my heart goes out to all the families affected by the tragedy in Minnesota.

I always enjoyed passing over the metal grate bridges because of the way the grates made the tires sing (or is that scream?).

The hardest bridge to cross for me has been the Mackinac Island bridge. It is long and the lake is so very deep!
I guess I'm a senior now. Simon Garfunkel sang a great song about "bridges". These are not the architect kind, but the kind that will bridge relationships.
When you're weary, feeling small,
When tears are in your eyes, I will dry them all;
I'm on your side. when times get rough
And friends just cant be found,
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.

When you're down and out,
When you're on the street,
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you.
Ill take your part.
When darkness comes
And pains is all around,
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.

Sail on silver girl,
Sail on by.
Your time has come to shine.
All your dreams are on their way.
See how they shine.
If you need a friend
I'm sailing right behind.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind.

Never. I just love bridges. And I may go over the Golden Gate or the Bay Bridge next week. When it's my time to go, I will go. Nothing I can do about it. Lots of bridges in the SF bay area, and they are all an adventure!

nope to all of the above. The only bridges I have ever been nervous about were the old wood bridges....just about all gone now. I will take that back...the old rt 1 bridge beween Key Marathon and the next key south made me nervous..very narrow, and many wrecks there.

Nope, because the other day there was a plane crash, a train crash, a bus crash, a car crash, a cyclist was knocked down, a man was run over, someone got stabbed, two people got shot......the list is endless, but you still have to go about your daily life. You could stay at home safe, but hang on a minute, I heard about someone that fell down the stairs and broke their neck. Why worry about a bridge for god's sake you don't worry about other things

I was a little anxious on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. It is very high and the road bed is a grate you can see through.
