One of the many great things about the Beatles is the fact that they had no frontman. John and Paul split duties pretty evenly. They even shared credit on all songs they wrote, even though they stopped actually writings songs together pretty early. To answers your question, they had no frontman. All four of them sang and wrote.

Both. That's one of the many things that made The Beatles unique. George and Ringo also sang lead at times. Other pop groups or bands seemed dull to me in comparison through only having one lead singer.

Both shared frontman duties. Occasionally George did, too.
