Of course he will hold the record for the most homeruns ever on tuesday... he holds the record for the most walks by a long shot... he was the first to the 400/400 club and the 500/500 club... 7 gold gloves and 14 all star games... sounds like the best ever to me...

You got that right. It's never-ending, man. Don't waste your time. Dummies are born everyday, and then those dummies have children and the cycle continues. That's why we have so many dummies today.
And frankly the word "cheating" is taken out of it's true meaning when people use it. Cheating entails breaking rules. Back in the day greenies and red juice weren't even against the rules, just like at the time current players were supposedly taking steroids, et cetera, they weren't against the rules. Now they are against the rules and people who get caught breaking these rules are "cheaters"! There is no doubt in my mind that Barry took something, whether steroids or HGH. I believe it was just HGH though. But that's besides the point. The man can make contact with the ball and works hard. He had a an extra early batting session to get his swing back and to break out of his slump. He is also a hard worker. Its not like he took steroids, and became and fat. He continued to improve and get better, and here is evidence. Also, I don't think he has tainted the game because the game was tainted long before he was even born. Looking for new things to enhance god-given ability and hard work has always been a goal of all athletes, whether it be GNC or Bay Area Laboratory Co-Operative or whatever the equivalent was 50-100 years ago!
But like I said trying to explain that to people who have pure hate in their blood is a waste of time. Logic doesn't enter their mind because they are not rational people. Go Barry.

He not great in the field, which means that he is not the greatest player ever.
Now is he the greatest hitter of all time? No. Ted Williams in my opinion was the greatest hitter of all time. Not only did he hit over .400 and hit 521 home runs while taking 4 years off in his prime to fly for the Air Force in WWII and Korea. He won 2 Triple Crowns and led the league in batting 6 times.
Was he the greatest power hitter of all time? I do not think so. Personally i think Mark Maguire was the greatest pure power hitter to ever play the game. there were a few years he hit more home runs than singles. He averaged 1 homerun every 10.61 at bats, best in history, Babe Ruth is second at 11.76. Had he not been hurt for 3 years in his prime, we'd be talking about Barry trying to catch Mark, not Hank.
Just my opinion.

Hell No! Even without the steroids, the game rules have changed so much to help offense, that these records shouldn't count even without the steroids. Tiny strike-zone, lower mound, tiny ball parks, livelier ball, watered down pitching.
Also, everybody isn't doing steroids! Stop trying to deflect the shame away from Bonds!

No. It is just one record among many. By itself, it shows he has power.
We still need to look at many other areas. His ability to hit for a high average. His ability to run the bases and in the outfield. His ability to throw the ball from the outfield. His ability to catch the ball.
Plus there are the intangible factors. Leadership. Ability to inspire others. Is he focused on winning? Is he team-oriented? Does he do the little things to help a team win? Is he willing to make sacrifices to help the team? Does he perform in the clutch? Does he build team unity? Is he a friend to the other Giants? Does he support his teammates? Does he help them when they are struggling?
Now lets see how he stacks up ---
His BA is about .298. Lower than Aaron and much lower than Ruth. Earlier in his career he ran very well and was a gold glove outfielder. Today, his knees are pretty much shot and his ability to throw out runners is gone. He is a defensive handicap to the team in LF.
Now the intangibles ---
He does not talk to his teammates and they don't talk to him. He is not their friend, doesn't inspire them, support them, offer hitting advice, or build team unity. He is focused on himself and not the team winning. He does not perform in the clutch (take a look at his post season stats sometime). He has never been a world champion. The others stars in the league don't want to be on his team. This makes it an easy decision to pitch around him since his teammates don't hit well enough to drive him in on a consistent basis.

He might be the home run king, but I don't think I would give him the title of "greatest ever".
To be the greatest ever, you can't just be a power hitter, you have to hit for a high average and play superb defense. Playing defense was not really Barry's strongest point throughout his career. Just my opinion, but if I was chosen to name the greatest player ever... it would probably be Willie Mays.

There are too many different records to call the holder in any one of them the greatest player ever. Not to mention the fact that he hasn't broken the record yet, just tied it. (I guess that makes him the second best.)

almost... he only needs to get to 3000hits and he will be... although he holds the power number record, if he gets the 3000 hits it will also prove that it wasn't just raw power that he used while he was up at the dish
