An attacker is allowed to score directly from a direct free-kick whereas an indirect free-kick must hit another player, from either side, before it enters the goal.
(When taking an indirect free-kick the ref holds his arm up when it's taken and doesn't take it down until it hits another player.)
A direct free kick in the penalty area is a penalty.

pluginmaybe is correct in what the differences are in a direct or indirect free kick - to go further though a direct free kick is awarded for a foul - these being

When a player:
Kicks or attempts to kick an opponent
Trips or attempts to trip an opponent
Jumps at an opponent
Charges an opponent
Strikes or attempts to strike an opponent
Pushes an opponent
Makes contact with the opponent before touching the ball when tackling
Holds an opponent
Spits at an opponent
Handles the ball deliberately

An indirect is awarded when a foul other than the above is commited (ie usually a technical infringement) These would include
Offside
Goal Keeper handles the ball on a pass back from his own player
Touching the ball more than once on the kick-off
Time wasting
Ball on goal kick doesn't travel out the 18 yard box
etc

It can also be awarded when no specific foul occurred during play - ie a player in general play making a comment to the referee that can be deemed dissent. As one of the first 10 offences didn't occur during the play - this can also be awarded indirect.

Indirect Kick In Soccer

2016-11-07 07:22:18 · answer #3 · answered by slayden 4 · 0 0

Direct Free Kick: the kicker can kick the ball straight into the net, and will be counted as a goal. Indirect Free Kick: the ball MUST touch one other person (doesnt matter what team) other than the kicker and goalie, before it can be counted as a goal. AGGREGATE: it is only for the UEFA Champions League. The way it works is the teams play each other twice, once at each of their home fields. The team that scores the most goals over the course of the two games moves on to the next round. If there is a tie, then there is a penalty kick shootout.

Indirect free kick: If a player takes an indirect free kick and scores a goal without any player touching it before it goes in, then it is not a goal.

Direct free kick: If a player takes a direct free kick, and even if a player does not touch it before it enters the net, it is stil a goal.

In summary, when it is indirect, a player must touch the ball before it enters the net for it to go in. Normally, in direct free kick situations, a wall is formed by the defending team.

an indirect kick is when a player commits a foul inside the 18 yard box, the other team gets an indirect free kick. the ball is placed wherever the foul was commited. the ball has to be touched by at least two people, ex. a person on your team can run and tap the ball then you can shoot and score

It sounds like the two names. In Direct kicks, you can kick it into the goal staright and An Indirect means having to kick to someone.

k just took the ref test.

only TEN reasons for a DFK

1.striking
2.pushing
3.holding
4.handling the ball (handball)
5.kicking (recklessly)
6.tackling(hitting the person before the ball)
7.tripping
8.jumping at
9.charging (except for shoulder to shoulder going for the ball)
10.spitting

--> all of these HAVE to be committed against an opponent [except for handling] to be a DFK. A DFK inside the penalty area is a penalty kick

EVERYTHING ELSE IS AN IFK!

oh and you can score off of DFKs and you can't off IFKs
