I listen to the radio at work,usually Radio 2,because I drive for a living and they give out hourly traffic reports and hold topical discussions,which listeners can phone into.Plus the music's a little less "in your face" like most of the others and it's a subsidised station,run by the BBC and funded by TV licensing,so it's commercial free.
When i'm at home I listen to my album music,which most radio stations won't play due to the royalties.You see,the way i've been told it works is that a chart release has a set royalty so the stations play it relentlessly to get the value out of it,which drives me mad,but an album track has a higher royalty which is charged each time it's played.
U.K stations have now learned that people switch off if a track is overplayed and have now adopted "no repeats" shows in the daytime which offer more variety for the listener.Perhaps U.S stations could do it too especially as they have a deeper well from which to draw from musically.

The radio plays the same, boring songs over and over. There's no variety in the music. It's all the over-played bullshit over and over. I hate the radio. I prefer my own music over any radio station. I like to listen to what I choose, not what the radio or "popularity" chooses.
