make sure your core muscles are strong enough. you can't turn without then. turns and balance come from your stomache and back muscles. do sit-ups and back-ups (pretty much like sit-ups just that your lying on your stomache) every day to strengthen your core.
also you might just not be properly aligned. your head is the heaviest part of you body so if your head is looking down or tilted to the side its gonna throw you off your balance. also, your hips and your butt are the second heaviest part of your bady. so if your not directly over your leg you wont be able to stay on balance.
make sure that when you go into passe, your not lifting your hip with the leg. instead, try to think of lifting up and out of your standing leg so that your hip doesnt have to go up to make room for the passe.
not going up all the way in your releve will also pull you off balance. try to make sure your relve is as high as possible but your knees are still straight. try and think of pushing your insteps forward and out of your shoe. that should help you get up on releve all the way.
not spotting properly will also affect your balance. if your head is too slow, you won't be able to turn.
one thing that might help is filming yourself doing a few pirouettes to both sides. you know what a good pirrouette should look like, so that way you can see where you start to lose your balance and why.

yes, like everyne says, try spotting, and make sure you are pulling up in your stomach muscles, and not letting your arms get to low (they help hold you up, if they're in a low fifth, bring them to a middle fifth). also there are some exercises that will help your balance. try standing parallel with the arch of one foot on the calf of the other leg. close your eyes and balance as long as you can. if this is too hard lower your foot so it is around you ankle. another exercise is to go into a panche arabesque with your hands holding onto your supporting foot. look at the wall behind you and try to balance. if this is difficult, try looking straight down at the floor or you suporting foot. good luck!

Spotting is off, just like the other two answers say. "Snap" the head around, as in twist it quickly and perfectly straight around, don't dip down or lead with the top of your head. Talkt to your teacher if you are having further problems, and don't get whiplash!

It is important to have a good starting point. Start in position five (I find the easiest starting point) and relax. Have good arm and back posture and breath. Take a moment before you spin to contentrate and re-think what you want to achieve. It takes practice, but you do get it.

The only thing to add is to pretend you have a string pulling you straight up, up, up. Much better balance when you have great position.

Make sure you spot and lean about an inch forward and keep all your muscles, especially your core, TIGHT.
i would suggest doing your prep and not turning and practice going up on your half-toe and hold it as long as you can. =)

spotting, keeo your hips in alignment, and use the suck and tuck method, suck in your stomach to tighten the muscles, and tuck your spine and tailbone under to keep your core aligned.
