In certain cultures in South America, a ceremonial king was chosen whose reign lasted one year, after which the king was sacrificed to the gods. If America opted for a similar system for presidents at the end of their term, would it be a good way to avoid lightweights like Dubya? Only people *really dedicated* would go for the presidency. Discuss.

PROBLEM - With the president we have now the sacrifice would be rejected. The problem the gods would be offended and 1000 years of bad luck would fall upon us.

No, 2 is fine and there is no need for killing the out going President, but term limits for Congress is the only way we can start to get it cleaned up and achieve things in Washington.

I'm not sure anybody would be that willing to sacrifice their lives for their God (or higher power). Even someone as "religious" as Bush.

We'd probably turn into an anarchistic country if that happened, because no one would be willing to run.
