It was more of the same type of modern hype you hear every day in sports now. Of course he could have been the next Larry Bird if he went to court and had his name changed to Larry Bird.

Yeah, it was VERY VERY FUNNY! Where's Van Horn now? He's become an injury-prone journeyman in the NBA, that is, if he's still playing at all. You see, some "self-proclaimed" basketball analysts get easily excited when they see an up and coming player that they'd blurt out "he's the next this or the next that". Van Horn is a talented player but he hasn't accomplished anything in the NBA and I don't think he'll ever will.

Looking back, a lot of things are pretty funny. Like when Kwame Brown was suppose to be the next Hakeem Olajuwon.
