If you subtract bot equations you get

0 = 6/4x +3/4 -->x = -1/2

So now using y - 1/8 = 3/4 x + 3/8

y =3/4(-1/2) +1/2 = -3/8 +1/2 = 1/8

By inspection, you can see that the only way for this problem to have a solution is for both sides to be 0.

Let y - (1/8) = a
and (3/4)(x+1/2) = b

The problem is stating that a = b, and a = -b.
Only solution, where b = -b, is b = 0, and thus a = 0

So y - 1/8 = 0, y = 1/8
x + 1/2 = 0, so x = -1/2

y-(1/8) = (3/4) (x + 1/2)
y-(1/8) = (-3/4) (x + 1/2)

add both equationd =>
2(y-(1/8))=0
y=1/8
