Open the back door of a van with a broken latch?

The back door of my van opens when you squeeze a plastic latch. The lift latch broke and now I can't get the door open to fix it. Anyone know how to get the door open?

Its a 1999 Toyota Sienna.

You should see an access panel on the door that hides a release cable with a handle on it.
