I've seen guys as young as 16 or so that are receeding. Most probably start mid-late 20s. It's passed on from your mother's father, as are a lot of genes and problems with heridity. If you are going bald, it usually starts around the swirl on top, or could start on the corners between your eyes and ears (that's what happened to me so far). A lot of guys these days just shave it really short every week or so, and you can't really tell then. That's what I'll be doing in a few years. Even brothers can have completely different hair. My brother is 33, I'm 30. He's got a full head, and so does my dad. I'm already starting to receed a little.

It varies with the type of baldness and the genetics involved. Genetic Baldness (or not) is carried via the mother's genes, so if your maternal grandfather (your mother's dad) went bald, then chances are you will too. If he's still arround you can ask him when he first noticed the thinning, and that may give you some idea. But then again if he has a full head of hair, you can relax!

there are people that go bald as early as 16. All though this is very rare it is unfortunate how so many men lose their youth at such a young age. Usually male pattern baldness occurs in mid 20s

I am in the elder group with Robert, MNTwins, Rob K.. I notice that we tend to follow each other in other sections as well which is great. These guys know more then just sports. Believe it or not I am closer to Rob K. in age. I am 29, but have a huge selection of old game tapes. I would say I watch more games tapes than The patriots after a Jets game. ZING! we only get mad at the young for not understanding the game. We have more legs to stand on being that we saw old games and new. They have only seen this generation and insist they are right. Who would you want teaching you the teacher from a community college or a professor at Oxford. WANT TO MAKE A SHOUT OUT TO HOOPFAN WHO IS 16 AND HAS A THIRST FOR KNOWLEDGE

It depends on your heredity and if your family has had the "balding" gene present, then if your father or mother or their relatives have had that gene, then you may have it too.

I would recognize the loss of hair around 40 or 50, if you end up losing your hair.

Sometimes, people can just lose hair, but some just get gray hair or white hair...

Some men start going bald as early as 18yrs old. If you notice your hair thinning, start using Rogaine now & it will prevent further hair loss.
