www.beckett.com is the easiest in my opinion. For $5 per month you can look up cards back to at least 1911. You can search by player, year, brand, or even card #.
The best way to determine the actual value though, is to use ebay's completed sales and see what others have sold for. This will give you more of an idea of what people are willing to pay.
