personally i thought it was very weak. None of the main characters died, Voldemort wasn't very strong, the ending seemed almost inevitable, and the 19 years later was really weak. I also found way too many questions unanswered especially regarding the Deathly Hallows.

if that's the saddest book you've ever read, then you either have problems or have been reading too many children picture books

harry doesn't count because he doesn't really die. And to prove Voldemort being weak, look how Neville Longbottom was able to just take an easy swing at his snake, that makes little sense to me. The ending was extremely cheesy

I don't get Dumbledore being stupid enough to touch that ring. Also the Deathly Hallows really had little to do with the actual story and were a significant divergance from the main plot. How many times does Harry get to almost die too? It's like he gets saved every chapter through sheer luck or from a young wizard (Hermoine or Ron) somehow beating off a death eater, or Voldemort's snake

JK Rowling wrote the book on what she thought people wanted her to write it rather than what she truly wanted to write. This was not the case in the 6th previous books.

Yeah...the 7th book did not get my standing ovation...The 19 years later part at the end ruined it for me. How cheesy! And the whole Harry dying, but not really part was weak.

I have read it and I must say that it was a very good book. One of the best, along with book 6, and 4 (my opinion). I was saddened by the deaths, and I loved how they brought back alot of characters from the past. In another post, someone had stated that they should have brought back Amos Diggory, which I do agree they should have.

I was also glad that they showed more of Snape's past, because now we know why he seemed so odd and creepy towards Harry.

There was 2 whole chapter dedicated to the explaination of the deathly hallows. (tale of beetle and bard, and the deathly hallows)

I thought it was excellent. And lots of characters died. As for main characters, Voldemort and Harry both died. It's just that Harry didn't stay dead for long. Yes, after Harry wakes up again the end of Voldemort seemed a bit inevitable, but it was supposed to. Heck, right from book one you knew Voldemort had to be defeated.

The epilogue was nice. It showed that life after Voldemort returned to normal. People went on with their lives and things progressed.

What more do you want to know about the Hallows? The wand was left in Dumbledore's tomb, so when Harry died it would lose it's power, beyond that who cares?

personally, i loved it! it was a very quick read and kept you on your toes. I'd like you to acknowledge the fact that the Deathly Hallows were answered throughout the book. and they were more like a "test your strength" thing. dumbledore was leaving clues all along. i was against snape till the end, but then found out he was relatively good. voldemort was strong; he killed enough people. i think he didn't want to make it a huge scene. and he knew that if everyone was in danger harry would play right into his hands, and he did. the nineteen years later weren't exactly a separate book; it was just telling you how everyone ended up. i would have felt lost without it.
and honestly, i would have been extremely upset if one of the main characters died. I've grown up with these characters since i was in second grade and waited for every book to come out. i held my breath every second ron was gone and every second they were in danger. i would have been mortified if one of them died. it wouldn't seem right. please email me at hoopsters3@earthlink.net if you want to discuss this further.

it was the SADDEST book i;ve ever read but it was so good! most of the questions i had were answered, i finally have proof that snape is good, evil perishes and good conquers, and yes many main characters die, if not main than at least fruequent, like poor poor Dobby and Hedwig, and Fred and Tonks and Lupin and Tonks' Dad and Moody and on top of that 50 people from Hogwarts died! I really liked how Harry gave his life to save everyone he cared about so they all got protected after he came back. My favorite chapter was "The Prince's Tale" because you find out Snape's motivation in life and what was really going on in his head (plus it was the saddest most romantic thing I've ever read, especially because you don't normally see Snape as a person with feelings). But yeah....that scene with Dumbledore and Harry was kinda weird, but I LOVED all the action in it and there were so many moments when slapped myself in the head and went "DUH!!!"
Best book I've ever read in my life, but i really wish there would be more harry potter books!!!

Are you serious?!?!?!
I ABSOLUTELY loved it. Ron, Hermione, or Harry didnt die, but other characters did. It was the classic good vs. evil, and she's said that because she's Christian, she always knew how it would end. Voldemort was strong, just as strong, he just didnt do all his research even though he had all the resources to do it. The 19 years late wasnt weak. It was the way it shouldve been. She kept it vague so that it was left up to the readers' imagination, but she answered all the questions you needed to know. I think she left it amazingly. And its the best book Ive ever read to date.

I loved it can't wait for the movie to come out, I hope the focus stays on the book. BuI actually did want one of the trio to die, it sounds harsh but it would have made both the book and the movie a lot more interesting. I also wanted to see more of the character relationships devoluping. I garenty somebody will make a spin-off though

of course the ending is inevitable!!!!!!!!! duh!!!!!! thats what the prophecy said, thats what dumbledore said, etc.

lets see, voldemort dies, hes a main character. harry comes back 2 life, but he still dies, and hes a main main character. i think some of the main characters died. freds almost like a main character (if hes not), and he dies.

i thought it was amazing. the deathly hallows are supposed to have questions surrounding them, since practically nobody thinks they really exist. even those who do never really found any of them except the elder wand. of course questions are surrounding them!
