No, you don't sound silly at all. She's a beautiful strong woman, especially in the book. I loved her growth from an empty headed child to a strong determined woman, even to the loss of her own "charecter" as a Lady (and the loss of that in the 19th century South was a blow to say the least). any one who admires Scarlett in the movie *should* read the book. She's so much better in print, and doesn't come across half as shallow as she does. She's a charecter to be admired and the director made her a b8tch. Shame on him.

I think most heterosexual males find her sexy. Her character was supposed to be a flirty temptress and they certainly got the right girl for the part.
