When I was a kid, I was like that, too. Actually, I still am.
I turn on my favorite music.
I start with the cleanest area (that way I feel more productive)
It's easiest for me to clean in sections, never leaving the section I am on until it is cleaned, even vacuumed.
If my room was especially untidy, I'd take quick breaks, looking at the things I found in my room that were apt to make me stop my work. (books, pictures, toys, gadgets)
Maybe you can solicit help from siblings or friends? Offer to help them with theirs, or make them cookies or something!
Good luck in cleaning your room!

Sometimes it's hard when you don't know where to start (ie. so much mess, it seems easier to just give up right?). As many people have suggested, music is great for cleaning room time. Especially if it's a compilation on your favorite tunes to sing along to.
I always set up my music, grab a drink and get all the cleaning sprays I need. Then I can be a dork, dance around the room and shoot my clothes like a basketball into my laundry basket. Doing one task at a time is really the key. Laundry, then any rubbish or any dishes that need taking out. Stripping the bed of the sheets, cleaning windows and vacuuming.
If you set yourself an hour goal to get it done, you should work hard (and time flys when your listening to your fav songs as well).
Good luck.

Definitely turn on some music.
Then don't look at cleaning the whole room. Instead, look at one task at a time.
For instance, take the dirty clothes to the hamper- put things away-make the bed (or strip it if you want to wash the sheets)- get a cloth and dust. Then vacuum.
If your room is cluttered- and it sounds like it might be- you might need several days for an initial clean-up, to get rid of everything that's broken or that you don't use. Once you do that, find a place for everything and keep everything in its place. Then cleaning your room won't be such a scary prospect!
It took me years to finally figure that out.
Good luck!

Put on the music and challenge yourself to get one thing done per song. For example pick up the clothes to the first tune and anything not picked you can tell yourself not to wear this week.
Cleaning is boring so keep on it. Try this on an on- going basis - every time you walk into your room put one thing where it belongs even if it is just a pair of earrings. Every time you leave your room put one thing where it goes - a book back on the shelf.
And remember boring people have immaculate rooms so relax a little too !

Get yourself a timer and set it for fifteen minutes. (You can do anything for fifteen minutes!) After working hard for that long...take a break and do something you like. After a while, devote fifteen more minutes to your room. Also, set small goals for each fifteen minute time span. First, you might focus on cleaning off your desk or out from under your bed. Just keep working and taking a break until you have it done. In the future, keep your room clean by devoting fifteen minutes a day to it.
