Hi, I'm looking for some "Adventures" to do in vegas for the two days I'm there. I was hoping something outdoors, that can take up to a day long. I'm an outdoors person, love white water kyacking, ect.

Any ideas? I like Jetsking, ATVing, things like that! Something that the normal tourist would not do.

Thanks!

Go about an hour outside the strip in either the west or east directions and you will find lots of great outdoor activities. Valley of Fire is an incredible red rock area where you can view, hike and climb beutiful weird shaped red rock formations, go early or late to enjoy sunset or sunrise and a break from Las Vegas heat in the summer and fall. Durjng sunset, the formations "glow", really beautiful. On the other side (kind of west of Vegas) is Red Rock Canyon, here are a few websites about it:
http://www.desertusa.com/redrock/
and
http://www.redrockcanyonlv.org/
And about an hour or 2 away is Lake Mead with all kinds of hiking, boating and camping opportunities. If you have never been there, take the tour of Hoover Dam, its very interesting and the size of it all is amazing. Those are my favorite places to go. You can head north, but between Las Vegas and Reno is THE most boring drive I have ever been on and living in the west, I have been on some desert roads! And if you are only in Vegas for 2 days, heading to Bryce or Zion in Utah or the Grand Canyon in Arizona would leave you doing nothing by driving and would not allow you time to really enjoy these magnificient areas. So I would choose Red Rock Canyon one day and either Lake Mead or Valley of Fire the second. Another option if you want to see them, but not do much besides stopping and picnicking is that you can make a loop drive from Vegas to Valley of Fire (kind of heading northeast) and then head back on another road that skirts the Nevada side of Lake Mead. But it would shorten your time to be able to actually hike at these locations. One final thought, if you have never been to Las Vegas, it is so very different than any Indian casions you may have been to, please allow yourself some time to explore the Strip. You can ride a roller coaster high about the city at the Stratsophere, have a shark encounter at Mandalay Bay, and most of the other casinos leave you thinking you are truly in Venice, New York City, Paris, etc. I have been to Vegas at least 15 or 20 times in the past 30 years and it keeps re-inventing itself. I recently took my parents who do not like to gamble and we had entertainment for 3 days without dropping a dime in gambling. Have Fun!

I live in Vegas and when I didn't live here I would go to the Stratosphere, the Racetrack, Circus Circus, etc. I wouldn't suggest anything because it's really hot out here right now and It's about 106 this week through next weekend.

If you want you can go to Lake Mead or go hiking.

I hope you find what you want to do.

Have Fun in Las Vegas.

There are helicopters that leave everyday for the Grand Canyon, you can pick your tour. Or Red Rock canyon would have a smorgasboard of things you like.
