More respect? Not in a court of law, but certainly in how much *I* would listen to what they have to say.
Would you hire a successful lawyer...or one who is not successful?

Deserve more respect? No, I don't think so. However, I also feel that they should not be given LESS respect because of their wealth.......as for other countries, you cannot control what other world leaders think or feel. Depending on the foreign leader you're talking about, the reasons for disliking the US could vary greatly. It's a big world and no matter how hard you try you cannot please everyone. The bottom line is, do we really care what other world leaders feel about us???

No he or she does not deserve more respect based soley on their income. But I can honestly tell you from my experience, the guy who EARNS $100 mil and the guy who makes $15,000 are MUCH nicer than the guy who MAKES $1 mil. The key word here is "earn". When they actually work for a living they've (usually) paid their dues and have respect for the people working their way up--the guy daddy stuck in the Corp office down in Tuscon is the idiot who doesn't get my respect.

The people who preach the most about 'morals' and the most conservative people make over a million a year.
If they were really good Christians, they would only take what they need and give their employees a higher wage.
They're all hypocrites. not only are the other countries disrespected, but the American people are disrespected by the distribution of wealth in this country.

Respect isn't based on how much $$$ the country has, it is based on how much power the country has. What can this country do for me or how bad could they hurt me if they wanted to? That's where the respect should come from.

Not in my book. anyone who can raise a family and get by on 15,000 deserves my respect because that's a tough job. 100 million he's probably a pencil neck, I've known several 100 million plus guys and I only likes and respected one of them, He made it himself and helped as many as he could, and he was mostly honest, and a close friend of Jimmy Carter, and I can't hold that against him either. Jimmy was the last honest president we had,and few liked him, what does that say.

Respect is earned.... however value and power are also earned by successful.... Put into perspective.... to whom would you go for a job... home loan... car loan... which would you trust to run the company that you work for.
The other nations actually disrespect the US because they are jealous of our success and power... and they are envious of our wealth.... it's pure greed and covetousness on their parts...

I would say respect is not the word to use because sometimes people have no moral convictions on how they make their monies. Look at the Senators who just was caught on corruption charges. Someone who is morally correct would probally make less money than someone whom is unethical.

Fear maybe, respect is not a given. Someone that make $100 mill a year can afford to buy a lot of damage to life.

No, of course not. However, that guy with the $15000 a year doesn't create the same amount of jobs as the guy making $100 mil a year either.

If someone is educated, intelligent, and willing to put in a hard days' work -- they deserve respect for those actions.
If someone is lazy, unmotivated, and just passing time -- then those actions are not worthy of respect (though they might do other things that are).
That answer applies regardless of whether the lazy person is making 100M and the motivated person is making 15K, or the reverse.
