I decided one day to pick one up just to figure out all the hype. Two days later I bought the rest of the books. I was amazed at how easy it was to slip into Harry's world.
I cannot point to anything specific for why I loved the books. I just know I was laughing and worrying about the characters.

After reading the first book, I have to admit it's an engaging story. The characters, both good and bad, are believable. The story always has something happening in it and the storyline builds to a satisfactory climax.
The next three books are like that, but the character's personalities grow in time.
Number 5 is slow and not very engaging but has details that are crucial crucial for number 6, which was done well.
I have not yet read book 7.
I'm not a zealous fan of HP, but it's a good read and worth looking into.

The Harry Potter series is amazing! Everything is interesting about them!!! I was reluctant at first to read them because I thought they were too long, but when I read them I was hooked! It has an interesting plot, with the element of mystery and surprise. It is so descriptive that I envision the movie in my mind as I read them, which makes it even more enjoyable. I also feel like I am there with the characters and all the places they travel to. It feels so real as you read. If you have seen the movies, and you like them, then you have to read the series because they are so much better and detailed.

Because it's a different story line - and so innocent of all the horrors of life and adulthood - it's truly magical! Despite the purely wizard material, the plotline is interesting and makes you think about what's going to happen next. But one thing that I've also learned about Harry Potter is there is no in between's with this series - you either like it, or you don't. (*shrugs*) That's just the way it is!

The books are very well written. The plot is complex and engaging, and the characters are fully realized and live in a completel world. It's very easy to invest yourself in the character's lives, they are interesting and well written. The thing that usually separates good fiction from great fiction is the details. The Harry Potter books have lots of detail. You get a sense of a whole world that these characters live in.

I think that everyone can relate to a character in the books. They're very well written, and she's really done her homework when it comes to naming things. What I love is that in each book, there's always a huge "Ohhhhh! NOW I get it!" moment. Especially in the 7th book. I'm now in the process of re-reading the all, just so that I can experience them all over again. I often forget little details, or big details that makes the story more meaningful. So when I read them over again, it's so helpful. I dare you to read the first! You'll understand!!

Can't really explain it, its jut easy to get addicted to. Like most books you have to read past the 1st or second chapter but then yyou really get into it. Its just one of those addicting things like how certain movies and tv shows are addicting same situation really. They're are really good books but it all depends on the person. If you're into fantacy and that stuff then you love em if you're more of a logic person then you might not get into them. I loved them because they pretty much ghad every type of genre you could want, keeps you guesing, and was well writen.

The characters are fascinating, first and foremost. Yes, they battle fantastic creatures in mythic settings, but they have insecurities and jealousies just like us muggles. I also feel that the fantasy setting makes it safe to tackle some very frightening real world problems like racism and political corruption.

People just read them because they want to. Some people just like the story.

i thought that too, till i saw a documentary about autistic kids learning to read - just to be able to read harry. they are amazing, i found i fell into the story and the whole magical world. they are written in such a believable way, i had to convince myself that the wizarding world was not real - my motto dont knock it till you've tried it, just read the first one first!
