Personal opinion: the demand for exclusivity comes largely from hypo-ego (low self-esteem). Women who demand to "take hostages" in a relationship are afraid of losing out to a better looking, smarter or otherwise more desirable woman.
Not to be ignored is the STDs that can be transmitted to others involved in poly-amorous situations, as well.
Add to that, some women demand men to be exclusively available to support her and her choices, especially when her choice is to become pregnant and give birth then divorce or file for child support when she can legally obtain it without having to put anything back into the relationship.
Lastly, when one can demand a committed relationship, there are more finances available to them than if there were others vying for equal or similar attention.
It is similar for men as far as hypo-ego is concerned as well as STDs. Beyond that, the most likely reason men want exclusivity to a woman is to better insure that any children she produces for him to support are more likely to be his.

That's fine. Not all women want commitment. Stop listening to what DeBeer's is trying to tell you and get out and find people with your interests. There are women out there who want no-strings-attached kind of things. Just make sure you're honest and up-front about it.

This may come as a surprise to you, but there are men out there that want commitment!
Women like to feel secure in their relationships, and most can only feel that way if they know their guy isn't out with other women. Most of us want kids, and would like to know their guy is going to stick around.
It's fine to have flings with women who also want just a fling, but do the right thing by the first girlfriend you mentioned and tell her to go find someone more relationally mature.

I think it depends on the relationship and where it's going. If a women feels that she wants and needs commitment from her partner than the realtionship must be getting stronger.

It's pretty simple - women find pleasure in emotional bonds, don't want to contract STDs (condoms don't protect against warts, y'all) and/or don't want the condom to break and have to deal with an unwanted pregnancy with the guy who is sleeping around and has made it clear that he doesn't care and doesn't plan to. UNCOMFORTABLE...
I like how you say "there goes another good thing!" Haha! Good for YOU, you mean. Such an inconvenience that that pretty object you're sleeping with is a person with her own desires. You're being true to yourself and so is she. I don't see the problem.

Because thats the way they roll. If you cant give you woman commitment someone else will. Relax and enjoy yourself. Someday you might feel that those women had more values than you.

IMHO: Women aren't afraid of commitment because they don't know what it is. Most divorces these days are filed by women. Brad, stay single, store some soldiers in a freezer and get a vasectomy. Be careful out there; there are many women looking for a sperm donor and bank account combo. Don't leave your soldiers around: FLUSH. There was a case recently of a female doctor in Illinois who gave head to a male doctor. She inseminated herself, got pregnant, and sued for child support! She got it.

It sounds to me like little brad had his heart broken a long time ago and now he is afraid to make a commitment. How is it that you have 3 girlfriends and you aren't really satifying any of them? Maybe it's not the female to whom you should be pointing your finger, but maybe you should be looking and brad and asking your self are do you have commitment anxiety. It sounds to me like you are being selfish and spreading your self too thin.

It's the natural order of things. You just mess it up when you want to be number one.

that attitude will get you no where in life. women want to be loved. any decent woman is going to want to be the only girl in your life. her being the only woman doesnt mean you have to put her # one, it just means you'll respect her enough to not cheat on her. commitment is a good thing. a relationship is supposed to have commitment. it seems like you're just looking for a bit of fun.
