How do we know if they are executed that they never really suffer? I guess you may assume there's a hell or some punishment? I' d suggest either exporting them to a cheaper country that will house them very cheaply (and feed them, hehe) or give them cruel and unusual punishments for a while so they feel pain before they die. Everything could be done much more cheaply! A great place to cut the budget!

I love this topic! Here's my plan:
For those of you who think the death penalty is cruel and inhumane, here's your solution: Life in prison means life in PRISON. No eligibility for parole, no college education, no money to buy things at the prison commisary, crappy food, no workout room, a 6x6 cell, a hole in the floor for "personal business" and one hour of sunlight per day. Maybe the religious book of their choice if they so desire. Nothing else. If prison was more like prison, then our tax dollars could go to better things, like education, helping the poor, etc.
For those of you who support the death penalty (like I do) here's my other solution: With DNA and technology today, it's pretty difficult to execute the wrong person. With that in mind, once a death sentence is imposed, you have 1 YEAR to get your supporting paperwork together for your appeal. Court will reconvene exactly 1 year later (give or take a few days) and the accused and his/her lawyers will have however long it takes to present their case. If nothing new can be added to the case, the accused has 2 hours to spend his/her final hours with family/friends, whomever. No final meal, no last words...just a nice stroll to the death chamber and off you go to meet death. Just think of the tax savings...that and the fact that some lawyers might actually have to work! Wow. That'd be the day.

If the evidence against them is 100% they are guilty of the crime deserving the death sentence: I feel they should get 90 days to file for and prep for their "2nd Shot appeal". If that fails, they die in 10 days--no delays.
The travesty I oppose with regards to the death penalty is how these savvy inmates manage to hang on 10 to 20 years before dancing with the Reaper, as they all deserve to.

Park them in cells below major hospitals. Force them to exercise and eat healthy foods. No caffeine, no fats, no tobacco, no alcohol. Then one fine day....
death by transplant.

I've always thought that death row should be just that. I say end it at the next available opening.
