Ignoring cuppa-coffee and one-shot players, the worst position player, who got to start on a regular basis for a number of seasons, is without question Bill Bergen.
I'm not even gonna describe how bad he is -- click the link below to review his stats -- and note that this man got into 947 games over 11 seasons, 3228 plate appearances. This isn't some benchwarmer -- his managers kept putting this disaster on the field, and it could not possibly have been for his hitting ability, because he didn't have any.

That's at least 40 points of AVG lower than any other player in history who had 3000+ AB. Amazing.

Mario Mendosa played for 8 years and had 1337 at bats from 1974 to 1982 and managed a career .215 average (OPS .507)
I'm sure someone's worse than that but this guy gave a name to the .200 batting average - The Mendosa Line.

Robin Yount's brother. He was a reliever. He warmed up, came into a game, was throwing his 9 pitches from the mound and hurt his arm. He went on the DL and never made it back to the bigs. His stat line: 1 G, IP 0 -- -- --- -- ---.

Neifi Perez! lol.
Even on "steroids" he couldnt hit his way out of a wet paper bag!!!!
what is even funnier is that after this season is over he will still have to serve some games. I dont see anyone picking him up, so if he ever does come back to baseball he will still have to finish his sentence!
Sorry for going about Perez, but that man is so stupid he doesnt even know it!

How about Hugh Mulcahy? With a nickname like "losing pitcher" he has to be pretty bad.
