My sister had a foreign boyfriend who influenced her to help him out by taking up a loan for 16000 pounds, because he wanted to buy himself a flat in his country! It happened a 2-3 months ago! He started to pay the monthly paybacks for her it`s about 800 pounds.
They did broke up, they are not together anymore, he promised he will monthly pay all the money back to her...but it`s 2 more years!!!

I didn`t know anything about this until know.
I`m really upset about it.
I couldn`t believe something like this could happen, and I would like to know...
Is it possible somehow to make the "money pay back" commitment from her ex-boyfriend for my sister safe or covered with some agreement by law?
How can I help my sister out from this?
What she should do to don`t loose her money?

Thank you.

It depends if it was a Mortgage loan stop paying it and the property will be repossed,If it was a personal loan she is in big trouble and will lose it all.It is a sad case indeed but the laws in other countries are different to the ones in the UK but even so here you would still have a problem with it.

As your sister took the loan out under her name she is responsible for the repayments. The only way she could get her money back is if the man had put his name on the loan agreement.

she could write up an IOU which specifies amount, term and interest rate, also repayment amount and schedule. Get it signed by both people and a witness.

A lawyer could draw something up. She might also get a lein on the property title, so if it is sold , she gets paid in full at once.

That will depend on where he lives .

It is complicated because they live in different countries.

Just have to hope he is honest and makes the payments.

Sorry but unless your sister is very lucky I think she has been conned and will loose her money. £16,000 is a lot but the costs of any legal pursuit across international borders would be £100,000's over many years.

Just don't upset him and pray he is honest.

Sorry can't offer a nicer answer

Unfortunately because he is in a different country as is the property, it would depend on the laws in his country.

She needs to find out where she stand with their laws. She is responsible for her loan in her country and I doubt very much she can get out of it.

If he ever sets foot on land in her country then she can go after him, the fact that he has paid part of it shows intent to reimburse the loan but that doesn't hold any water unless he is in her country.

there are crooks everywhere. Whose name is the loan in? If her name is on the loan agreement, she will be liable to pay it back if he doesnt.
