I think they will.

Because,

They are 0.5 games back and are vrsing teams that they can gain soem ground on like Boston, Cleveland, and Detrioit.

Detrioit has won one game of thier last ten.

Abreu and Cano have batted over .400 after the all star break.

Posada is still holding strong at .340

The Yankees bull pen has been great of late.

And Cleveland have had thier struggles of late too.

I would just like to point out that the three users with "Yankee" in their screen name thought that the Yankees would easily make the playoffs.

I don't think they will win the division, but they have a shot at the wildcard. The Yankees have been beating up on bad teams like the Devil Rays and Royals, but now the true test will come. They play tough opponents like the Red Sox, Tigers, Blue Jays etc... The road won't be easy from now on for the Yankees and if they can beat the better teams, then they will win the wildcard. Also, don't expect the Tigers to stuggle anymore, they are just too good of a team.

Yankees may sneak into the wildcard spot, but I just don't see their pitching rotation giving them enough help in the playoffs to make the World Series. Other than Wang, I just don't see their starters giving them an opportunity to win against a solid hitting ballclub. The Yanks have not played a single team with true firepower to keep up with them over the past month (Royals for two series, White Sox, D-Rays, Blue Jays, Orioles) - but the next month should bring the Yanks back to earth. A series against Cleveland, Anaheim and Boston and two series against the Tigers await the Bombers this month.

By Golly! I just may have to retract all my previous statements.

Those Dam Yankees! only 1/2 game behind The Tigers.

But it's okay because Detroit will win the division.

Yeah, I think it's funny that even though The Tigers have lost 9 of our last 10 games; the pesky injuns have been losing too!

Thank God Eric Wedge is a good guy and giving away the division!!!!

I dont really think so, You still have to remember about the teams behind the Yanks like the Twins and also watch out for the Blue Jays they are on fire, they have won 9 straight at home, and they play the Yanks next, but the Yanks have been scoring lots of runs the past few games

yes they will make the playoffs they just need to be consistent and only 0.5 games behind in the wild card and 11 games over .500 there great they will play on the road against Toronto and Cleveland so they have to continue to prove that they are the team to beat

Hell yea we gettin the division, and we aint gettin through with the wild card. No1 even expected us to be at this stage at this point of the season. We get the Red Sox 6 more times and if we go 5-1 through that span the division is ours.

I hope so because teams like the Yankees and Red Sox make the playoffs more exciting.
