Yep, your 100% accurate. Many people in America have not seen how some poor people live. They don't realize how badly the Little Children need the Welfare system. Already the Health care system is beginning to take away. Do you know that when poor childen are treated in Health Clinics many have to sit and wait for hours ? I have witnessed young , poor Mothers who use food stamps be , ridiculed because they present food stamp cards to the clerk. Very few people know that the foods stamps some people get , often run out before the next months allowance comes to them. I have had Small Sweet Little Children , come to my house and say they are hungry, because the parents have run out of food stamps. So I try to fill in the void until the food stamp allowence, is there. The poor people go without so much. Many of the wealthy despise the poor and feel it is their own faults that they are poor. They wouldn't lend a helping hand, no matter what. Yes, I do care. I have seen many poor children. I collect beautiful Winter coats to help the needy. I wash them and use laundry softener on them to make them smell so good. Hopefully, our Government will not take more away from the poor. Our taxpayers money should be used to help our own, then to be sending welfare to other countries, that bite the hand. The Veterans Administration is a shame. My husband is a Veteran and this last month he was seen by a foreign Doctor, at the Veterans Hospital . The Doctor , was rude, and would not let my husband talk. No Veteran in America should be mis-treated by a foreign Doctor, that has never been an American Veteran of Foreign Wars. Why in the hell can't our Veterans have American Doctors ??? What is our elected people in our Government doing to the moral of our Nation ?

that would make the Conservatives chuffed, yet I doubt if it might pave their way into paradise. The adverse are already residing in Shanty cities in many circumstances. In Michigan, officers discovered a Tent city set up on the fringe of city. Michigan has a 12% unemployment fee, and that's in basic terms the extensive style amassing. Factories have fled, the economic device...all imagined, of direction...is interior the pits! wager what? In that city, they evicted the human beings and bulldozed the valuables. i think it incredibly is noted as compassionate Conservatism. I doubt if everybody on those boards is wealthy. teenagers fairly many times sense that dying or disaster will by no ability take place to them. yet, because of the fact the years bypass via and the calamities come and bypass, we would all locate that existence often times gets surprisingly harsh. it incredibly is achieveable that many human beings would be applicants for this Shanty city ourselves, so feeling boastful and stronger would be a ego improve top now, yet would be a tragic and sorrowful actuality interior the destiny.

Whether we like it or not, welfare is the hallmark of a civilized society. I don't believe in just giving money away, but I have no problem with subsidizing food and housing. (with rent going to the landlords and monies going to the grocers, not directly to recipients to buy non essential goods)

I believe welfare should be a hand up, not a hand out. Welfare should be in conjunction with schooling/training, and job location. Welfare should also be finite. You can't have perpetual welfare. I think there should be only a 12-24 month lifetime assistance, whereas throughout your entire life you are only entitled to 12 or 24 months of assistance before you have to fend totally for yourself.

I think more assistance should be given to small business owners or those wanting to start small businesses, with low or no interest loans, small business management classes, things of that sort. I think that will stimulate growth in job opportunities in this country.

I have to agree with first set of comments. Considering how much money people spend (as opposed to saving) MOST OF US in the middle class are only a few lost paychecks away from public assistance! Think about it. That includes being fired, getting seriously ill or injured (for example, motor vehicle crash, or rare disease that no one seems to be able to diagnose or treat...). There but for the Grace of God go I. Outsourcing is partly a result of greedy consumer demands for lowest-possible prices, so that we can buy more and more and more. Why have one pair of sandals for $50 when you can spend that money for 2 or 3 pairs made in China, where workers make pittance (?$2 per week) for our pleasure. That stuff has recently come back to bite us, with the toxic products that have scandalized various Chinese industries, and convicted their FDA-equivalent's director, who was recently put to death. It's not about red or blue states. It's about human dignity and values. I visit the local military hospital, and wonder how many of those gravely injured or incapacitated teenagers and young folks will be able to obtain and keep a decent, satisfying job. Remember, a lot of them joined the military to GET education or training, and to RISE out of poverty. (Remember to hire the disadvantaged!)

Homeless people begging in the streets is at an all time low in most major US cities.

Unemployment in the US is at an all time low.

NASA spends 10% of what goes into welfare.

Entitlements represent the largest peice of the budget pie.

So the answer to your question is no. It would take a catastrophe beyond comprehension to bring the US to third world conditions. Every day that goes by, it gets less likely.

Your dim view of the conditions in the US needs to be tempered with a trip to a third world country. Try it. Your perspective will change when you kiss the ground upon return.

Except that since we've cut back the tax burden to pay for those programs, and since the economy has been allowed to reinvest that money, thereby fueling growth and creating jobs, a lot less of this country is a slum than was the case a generation ago.

,the social workers are the problem they know that if everybody went to work they would lose their jobs so they get very artistic how they keep people on programs! do you think people who don't work or have low paying jobs because they refused to learn anything and have to work for low wages should have a new car and home just like his neighbor who work his *** off and always tries to better himself?some people don't want to work , and they shouldn't have anything off the backs of a hard worker! oh and by the way the welfare system teaches you to beg ! That's the cause ,not the cure for poverty!

You need to visit South Central LA, or the black areas of New Orleans, Chicago, Washington or any other major US city. We already have third world conditions. It's the 60 years of liberal policies that have infantized blacks and conditioned them to look for handouts rather than jobs which have caused these conditions. Even now, Hwood praises thugs and gang bangers while calling any responsible black person "white." If you want to find the cause of black poverty, look in the mirror.

Instead of handing out money for nothing and paying for training programs that are not completed this country needs to put disadvantaged people in training programs that they must finish successfully to keep getting paid. Then they will have skills to work and get off the hand out list. Welfare programs breed nothing but idleness and rampant reproduction. Instead of letting people live off others the government should give them a road to follow to independence.

You don't have a clue do you?! Do you really have any idea how many are screwing the system over and how many are not getting caught?? And you really believe the social workers are investigating them! I work with a whole large group of them collecting food stamps from different states, not reporting their boyfreinds income, claiming other peoples kids! I think you need a reality check! Granted, there are those who really need the help and guess what? They are the ones that probably won't get it thanks to these lazy welfare cheating people who are screwing the system!
