How can I make him stop? He has many DUI's and still drives around even though they took his license. I don't want to call the cops on him because he already has two strikes for vehicular negligence and they would put him away for a long time. Once I took the tires off so he couldn't drive but he just put them back on and filled them up with air and drove away drunk. I couldn't believe it. He comes up from Flagstaff Arizona every year on his Anniversary and just laughs and gets really drunk. How can I make him stop?

well you can give him fair warning that if you see him drunk behind the wheel you'll turn him in. Most drunks will call your bluff on an ultimatum eventually. Then you must decide if you want to enforce your promise and have him brought down or let it go and possibly be an unwilling accomplice to some other persons death or bodily harm down the road somewhere. I'd say he might die too but the drunk driver usually ends up being the only one alive and unharmed after an accident

Sounds like the only way your uncle is going to stop driving is after he has an accident, kills some innocent civilian, and gets sent to prison for Vehicular Manslaughter. Or you can call the police on him and he will be put away before he kills someone. Your choice, and good luck with it.

Trust me, he will be caught soon enough .Just hope that someone doesn't die in the interim. Has anyone ever thought about doing an intervention ? Maybe the problem of alcohol use needs to be looked at first. The D.U.I. appears to be a bi-product of a much larger problem. Just a theory. God bless you and your family.

Tell him you will turn him in. What if it was you child he struck and killed? He doesn't have a license for a very good reason. Uncle or not, it is your obligation to turn him in for the safety of the public.

You need to stop worrying about your uncle. He obviously doesn't care about anyone else, including you. He gets drunk and endangers anybody who happens to be near him. Call the police and show respect for the innocent.

If the "Esq" means you are an attorney -- consider which is more important -- the law or the family relation. Ignoring any possible privilege issues.

If it were my family member, I'd tell them point blank that he has two options -- surrender his keys, or I'd report him.

reading your profile, etc, and this, you seem to be hung up on the drinking thing. That is probably the little man in your brian telling you you have a problem , chuckles.

If you don't want your uncle to kill someone, turn him in - you'll be sorry if you don't and somebody dies because of his irresponsibility.

He will stop himself pretty soon. You could get arrested also if he kills someone for accessory. I suggest you break both of his arms and legs so he can't drive or put sugar in his gas tank.
