He hasn't even started a whole season as a number one running back yet. Not even in the top 10.

He can't be listed as the best RB at the moment, even on his own team. Deuce McAllister is probably a better RB at this point in time than Reggie Bush is. Bush had some really bad games last year, such as the one against the Ravens where he had negative yards and turned the ball over twice (he fumbled and threw an interception on a running play where he was stuffed instead of just going down) in the first quarter and got pulled. He had some other games where he made careless plays as well. And who can forget how he blew the Rose Bowl with a fumbled lateral in his last game in college (if he didn't fumble, USC had at least a field goal and possibly a TD; instead they gave up a touchdown to Texas as a result; take away that massive point swing and the Trojans win that game big)? Reggie Bush wasn't even the best rookie speed RB. Both Joseph Addai and Maurice Jones-Drew were better.

Reggie Bush will probably be among the best in the league someday, but he isn't there yet. LaDainian Tomlinson, Frank Gore, and Steven Jackson have legitimate cases for being the best at the moment. Larry Johnson and Willie Parker are right up there, but held back by major flaws (LJ can't catch passes and Parker isn't a 25 carry a game back). Shaun Alexander gets listed among the best, but his prime is past (He was awful before the foot injury and had a few good games after that were flukes).

Reggie Bush can't be listed as an elite RB at the moment. He's nowhere near that level yet.

I don't think Reggie Bush is THE BEST but he is a close second behind LaDainian Tomlinson. The only reason Bush is not the best is because he has to share carries with Deuce McAllister. If he was the carrying the load alone a lot of people would say he's the best. I actually hope Deuce McAllister retires soon after a devastating hit so Bush can show everyone he's the best, but he'll also need a better FB and O-line before he can solidify himself. San Diego has the best fullback and Runblocking squad by far. he'll need some guys like SD's Run Squad or maybe the Colts or Patriots Line before he can shut up some of the LT worshipers.

OK first off Yes Tomlison is the best running back today. Jim Brown is of all time (LT should be able to make a case for himself at the end of his career). But last year (2006) the stats on NFL.com would definitely say that LT was the best with 1815 yd and average of 5.2 yd/carry and an NFL record of 28 Tds. Larry Johnson was arguable #2 with 1789 yd with a 4.3yds/carry and 2nd in rushing Tds w/ 17. To compare Reggie had 6 rushing Tds 565 yd rushing w/ and average of 3.6 yd/carry. Now Reggie also came out as a catching RB that could line up as a WR and was the #1 in receptions and #3 in yards for his team the New Orleans Saints but only added 2 receiving Tds to his total bringing him up to 8 total TDs. With LT having 28 rushing Tds 3 receiving Tds and 2 passing Tds. I believe that there is no case for Bush to be the best RB.

Not even close. Because of Duece McAllisterin New Orleans, Bush is only a part time RB. How can you call a part time RB the best RB?

He's the best in New Orleans. As for the rest of the league he has alot of competition. You have L T, L J, Jackson, A couple of Jones. He has a long way to go.

No, not right now. He is however the best athlete in the NFL. A few years down the road and I believe he will be an elite running back...

You can't be serious with this question...LT, and I'd say about maybe 5-10 other RB's are better than Bush right now...
