Geeze. I didnt think I was old until I read this question! LOL!
1. The clothes lines crack me up. I went to a Catholic school and the place where the nuns lived was in the play yard. They had one of them and hung out all of their "finery" for all the kids to see. Needless to say, there were some pretty good jokes about it.
2. Archie RULED. Richie Rich drooled.
3. Ever throw Canada Mints into the projection stream at the movies? They looked like shooting stars. I was always a licorice fan.
4. No cheese on my balogna. Yellow mustard.
5. Apples, bags of popcorn and Tootsie Rolls.
6. At St. Lawrence School in West Haven, CT, the cloak rooms are where the "bad" kids spent the day. Talk about child abuse?
7. Remember Walt Disney drinking a glass of scotch introducing episodes? Swamp Fox was my favorite. Great song. Oh, and Davey Crockett.
8. Never got into D*ck and Jane. I was a big Hardy Boys fan though.
10. You forgot Flicka. And loosely, Circus Boy featuring the guy who played drums for "The Monkees." See, I cant remember his name. That proves I'm a senior.
This was a great question, and brought back a ton of great memories. Thanks.
Oh, and Circus Boy was Mickey Dolenz. I knew it would come to me sooner or later.

1. I still have one right off my back deck. I strung the line myself between the house and my 40 ft tall white ash tree. I bought the kit and extra line at Home Depot.
2. My daughter still buys Archie and Veronica comic books.
3. Liquorice cigars were ALWAYS my favorite! But I clearly remember when a 5 penny bag of candy was packed so full it was hard to carry...cinnamon sticks 4 inches long 4/1 penny.
4. My favourite packed sandwich was canned salmon and onion--just wonderful. I always had a hard time leaving it be until lunch time. And why was the bread so much fresher then? It ALWAYS stuck to the roof of your mouth from freshness!
5. Candy apples-yum, and CARAMEL apples-oh wow! Yes please...I can still taste them.
6. And they had doors that closed to keep the clutter contained, and anyone who didn't keep their stuff hung properly had to clean the blackboard after class.
7. Gunsmoke. All the Gene Autrey movies. Hopalong Cassidy.
8. I think it's funny that YA won't let you use the given name D!ck without starring it out! Actually they have a whole new set of similar books that I get to read with my youngest grandson. These are very good and are so far above the repetitiveness of the D!ck and Jane books, that it is no wonder that they were retired.
9. My friend Flicka.
What a great nostalgia trip you've taken me on. Thank you.

Remember "Red light, green light"? For you youngsters, it was a game played by "Sheriff John"(on our tiny black and white tv) to get kids to drink their milk.
