I'd have to say there is no answer anyone on this earth could give to your question, because a human can't say for sure what God does.

However, because you listed 'rape, murder, theivery, boozing, sex, gays, and crime in general,' you are using that as the reason for the city being destroyed.

If these are the reasons in your mind then I'd have to say "No, New Orleans was not destroyed for these reasons."

My proof is as follows: These things are happening world wide right now. These things are always happening, world wide. If New Orleans were to be destroyed for these reasons then the whole world should haven been destroyed long ago.

I highly doubt that the New Orleans disaster was an act of God.
When he destroyed the tower of Babel it was because humanity was going to an extreme and needed to be spread out. When he destroyed Sodom he did so with great balls of fire, not a common occurrence like a hurricane. When the lands were flooded around Noah it again was because humanity had gone too far and again it was a huge flood that was supposed to have wiped out everything in the known world.
I think most of the things that go on in New Orleans- sins or not- go on in most of the other major cities in this country as well. So, why didn't God destroy Las Vegas instead, hell its CALLED sin city, and why did he send a tornado to absolutely wipe out that small town in Kansas, I'm sure the inhabitants f that town were a lot more pious than those of my city and most others.

I think it was just poor planning and poor preparation.

As for the black comment- I HATE it when these black comedians spend half or their act telling racist jokes and then bring a "white" guy to the supreme court for saying something like you did.
However,
I don't like what you said and before I read your additional comment I was ready to jump down your throat. The blacks in New Orleans were treated BADLY and it is inappropriate to say such a thing, all racism aside.

-Later!

Yeah, so funny, a white guy telling racist jokes about black people. Cultural oppression of an entire group based on something as silly as skin color is absolutely hysterical.

And I thought God gave up on the "I'm going to kill everyone because I don't like a few people" thing. That's very Old Testament. It's funny, I've only ever heard Christians claim this sort of nonsense, and they're not supposed to really follow the Old Testament. New Testament God is a forgiving sort, not the kind to make little old ladies and children die of thirst while fine, upstanding citizens drown trying to escape their houses through their attics. Not only is your idea cruel, it's not even theologically accurate.

in the bible it talks about how God rained fire down upon a wicked city. it's very possible that God destroyed New Orleans because of its wickedness. but we'll never know for sure.

it's not right to be so biased toward black ppl. every race commits crime.

your level of thinking is very primitive and unworthy of an educated person. We have to infer from this that you are in fact a primitive and uneducated person and therefore of no importance, except maybe as the subject of a National Geographic documentary: primitive beliefs of the cracker tribe, or some similar title. get a big dog up you, or is there one up there already? hey, there's room for two in such a big a/hole. amazing stuff.

Well, Mardi Gras went off without a hitch this year, so if it Katrina really were planned by God to get rid of the "sin", He failed.

The flooding in New Orleans was caused by contractors cutting corners in their work.

if god was destroying places becuase he objected to the behaviour, how do you explain what's happening in the Sudan? I'm pretty sure all those displaced women and children didn't rape, murder, steal, drink, have sex or were gay!
