Recently it has come to my attention that the small US size in McDonald's is the same size as a UK large.

I can only just handle a medium UK!

Aren't these huge portions?

It is HUGE. I only get the child's portion anywhere. Or just appetizers.

Lol its not just the UK its pritty much the rest of the world. When i came to America 2 years back and saw the size of a large meal here I was stunned. In anycase McDonalds is nothing compared to the large portions you get in say Burger King or Wendys yikes.

I do not think that is 100% true.

I looked up the nutrition facts on the mcdonalds usa and uk site and it states:

Small Fries
Us- 250 calories 13 fat
uk 235 calories 12 fat

Small Coke
US 150 calories
UK 105 calories

You know that i went tp th philipphines for vaction. i notice that too! i lost weight!!! because portion are smaller. I work at a MCD here in the US and ur right the large cup here 32 oz is unheard there even at 7even!! ! reason i think is that money its cheaper than the us if u convert it. 2, there health reason the US is the fattest country in the world!. 3 people dont eat as much in the US!!

I agree its very diff but i qeuss its weird and the us just loves being fat. sad to say!

yeah i dont even eat at Mcdonalds, What ppl in other countries dont see is that in America we are having alot of positive backlash against the unhealthy eating habits in this country that have come to recent light,
of course, like most good things- its not getting nearly as much publicity b/c people like to focus on negatives,
but Americans are becoming more healthy and buying organic foods, working out and cutting back portions. Their is a huge trend for eating organic and japanese cuisine like Sushi and sashimi, and vegetarianism.

Sizing here in the US is ridiculous. What used to be a small is now a medium and the mediums are now larges. I shudder at how big sizes are going to be in 5yrs or 10yrs down the line.

The portions not just at McD's, but everywhere, are a direct result of the fat people in the USA and an example of how many Americans do not have self control. This behavior also spills out to other areas of their lives.

They are huge portionsl. I am not an exceptionally small eater but I usually get a child's happy meal if I have to go to McDonald's.

yes they are and they keep getting bigger and bigger. the original large fries back then are now a small which means the large now would be extra, extra large then. fast food around the world is much to blame the growing obesity epidemic and why people also eat more then they used to. personally, mcdonalds makes me sick but my relatives work there and sometimes i have to eat the food.

Yes, it's kind of sad how large the portions are getting. I usually don't eat alot at restaurant but it saddens me to see how much some people do eat.
