Okay, well I have my period and it's been a few days since I got it this month. Anyway, I've never used a tampon before and since I'm going swimming and can't use a pad, I don't know what to do. I'm going swimming tomorrow by the way. I know how to use a tampon but one time I tried putting one in and it kind of hurt. I barely got it in 1/2 an inch. Can anyone help?

Well you must wear a tampon when you go swimming. You should get the tampax pearl or the playtex gentil glide because they have a small plastic applicator and will be easier to insert. Just read the directions that are given to you in the box. Here are a few tips you must remember;
Relax: They vagina, uterus and cervix are they strongest muscles in your body and when you tense up you cause they muscles to contract which makes it harder to get the tampon in.
Angle: You have to angle they tampon toward the small of your back when you insert the tampon or it will hit your vagina wall and it will cause a little discomfort.
Mirror: When I first used a tampon my aunt gave me some advice she says put a mirror on the floor or at an angle it makes it easier to see what your doing.
The reason that you might not be able to get a tampon in is because your hymen which is the covering to your vagina maybe not streched enough.

Get the slenderest plastic applicator tampon. Put some vaseline on the tampon to assist in inserting it. Angle it towards your lower middle back.

been there done that. you could try to put a tampon in, but it will take a while to get used to. if your period is light enough, you could try swimming, otherwise you might want to skip swimming this time. sorry honey =[

I haven't tried this, but my friends swear that you don't bleed in water, and i you take a shower before, and make sure right after you get out you change, you'll stay leak free.
Good luck :)!!
