Yes, it does. Sometimes just running the tap water works too.

They tried it on the UK show Braniac under scientific "ish" conditions. It didn't work.

i tried it once but my sister rolled over and her hand wasn't in the cup anymore. then i kept worrying that she'd spill it when she got up so i poured it out...
