I have heard that bats will eat those buggers. You can hang up some bat houses which I have seen at the local bird food store. Bats don't attack people either so you don't need to worry about that. The best part is that they come out at night when a lot of the mosquitoes do too.

Recruit some bats and give them a place to live on your property. One bat can eat hundreds of mosquitoes in one evening. They are very shy and if given proper places to roost then you may never even see them unless you are sitting out on a bright night looking skyward. Anyhow, it's just a thought. Here are directions for bat houses just in case you are interested.
At least read the article before you say no.

You wont be able to 'stop it' per se...however, reducing the standing water in the area will help tremendously as mosquito larvae hatch there. Also, try introducing Purple Martins [birds] to the area as they eat mosquitos. Try zappers, citronella, fogs--I live in FL also and this is what I've heard through the grapevine.

There are sprays you can buy at your local home stores that will help, but not prevent mosquitos..there is no cure to completely rid your property of mosquitos....or you could put up a chain link fence and post a sign..lol

I have heard of taking spearmint leaves and put them on yourself, also in the area outside where you eat or spend alot of time. I haven't had the problem of mosquitos to try it, but it might be worth it over costly sprays. If you find it works for you, plant spearmint in different locations in your yard that you walk or spent time in.
