why are canopies pointed at the top?

rain runoff. I wish the point was open to allow hot air to escape, those canopies can get quite hot underneath......OK, not as hot as being out in the sun.

If they weren't the water would build-up and it would all come tumbling down, its to keep the rain,snow,etc . running off the top. Or it can be slanted like a lean-to /.

so the rain rolls off when it rains..and when people are inside they don`t keep rubbing their heads on the ceiling..
