In my opinion, IQ can't really be measured accurately, this is mainly because there are so many variables that would have to be accounted for in analyzing a persons intelligence. One can say that an IQ test tells you how "intelligent" somebody is and what they are capable of, but I think the mind is a very complex part of us that can hardly be measured in terms of logic.

People who believe that a person who can communicate very well must have a high IQ are people of relatively low IQ. I say this because communication is only one aspect of measuring intelligence and is one of the least significant and least valuable and complex part of the brains ability. In addition one who can not reason beyond the simple understanding of personality in correlation with lack of social skills, and other variables that play a part in a persons ability to be able to communicate well are surely not intelligent themselves. A more accurate measure of someones intelligence would be something like their ability to memorize an array of patterns or pictures in the order in which they were displayed.

Social skills and common sense do not mean low IQ, they can be quite the opposite. I would say people that CAN communicate well are MORE likely to have a lower intelligence. Next time you have a conversation with someone, really think and disect what they are saying in terms of "what you think they are really saying"(the message of what they are saying) . Just think about the logic and complexity of what they said, you will notice in almost every instance that what they said was really stupid or simply very basic.

yes, classic IQ tests you re ability to learn things. It is not designed to predict what you will actually accomplish. IQ test were first used to identify students at a young age who would be considered slow learners. It does this well. IQ is not a test to see if someone will be a well developed person. Also a perfect IQ test would be able to test anyone of any culture and previous learning experiences equally which they cant. Also other no classic intelligences aren't measured emotional IQ spatial awareness etc. But overall IQ test do provide a good benchmark of potential ability

IQ, an abbreviation for "intelligence quotient," does not necessarily equate to a person's overall intelligence, but to their capacity to become intelligent. I've known some people with very high IQ's that were super dumb in the area of common sense.

God, I hope not...I always get very low I.Q. test scores and I am a brilliant person! Remember those test have a lot of math-type questions and not everyone who is considered highly intelligent is proficient with numbers. I think standardized test can falsely label people. As you mentioned their are social skills and common sense and other considerations when calibrating ones smarts!!!! Who can really judge someone else? We all have moments of genius and moments of shear madness, sometimes even in the same day!!!!!

I have a high IQ.... I know what you mean..

Their called 'Idiot Savants' meaning they are highly skilled in a specific area(s) but are very poor in others...such as social skills as you mentioned..

But remember social skills is about practice.

My social skills are medicore but I can spark the hardest test you can find.. If I wanted to improve my social skills I would simply attend a social scene more frequently ie (bar, club, parties, etc) Common sense is based on past experience so that varies from person to person. It's very rare to find a well rounded person with a High IQ.

No, because I tested to have a high IQ and I have done more dumb things then most people. I am on probabation, I have been in jail, and can not get a great job. IQ means nothing but that you have a higher ability to understand things.

It depends on how you define "intelligence", really. If "intelligence" is the ability to see patterns and understand abstract relationships, then perhaps IQ tests measure it quite well. Otherwise, maybe not so well.
