somehow telling America that straight people need more guidance in regards to their sexual practices because they have more STDs or in this case, genital herpes, than gay people?

lol well i think that herpes is a touchy subject anyway & most of america (republican white middle aged america) wouldnt even think of taking the message seriously if it was a homosexual couple talking about "one who has herpes one who doesnt.... & we want to keep it that way!" & then there would be the outrage that the children are subjected to homosexuality on television.... let alone std's...
personally I think if it was a same sex couple on that commercial it would cause more negativity & hate inspired speech. & leading more people to believe that gays are the only ones spreading diseases... but its just my thoughts, & i am probably wrong

No, it's an acquiescence to the fact that most people are straight and they are selling a product to a majority audience.

If they marketed to gay people then straight people would NEVER buy the product.

Face it... Gay may be chic, but it will never be a majority.

good effort. A+
those commercials do have fine print, however, that claim they've only been tested with heterosexual couples, so the gay couple thing would be moot.

As a side note: now that I have LOGO, the LGBTQ channel, I'm amazed how many same-sex couple commercials there are

I feel gay men in particular got sick of being the ones that were labeled as having the diseases. The amount of safety practiced between gay men is an amazing thing.

Could be, but as heterosexuals are an estimated 97% of the potential market for this, maybe they are just aiming the ocmmercial at the majority of their potential customers.

If you watch the ad closely it says in the warnings that it is not tested in gay couples. That's probably the reason, not that they don't need advice.

The Ad Agencies don't have the guts to use gay people in their commercials.

I think it's because they can reach a wider audience using heterosexuals.
