Christmas is the gift of life through Christ.
You shouldn't think anything about someone who doesn't buy gifts. That person may have made a large donation to a homeless shelter or soup kitchen. They may have financial problems others are unaware of. Then again maybe they are like me and don't believe in buying gifts. I haven't bought a Christmas gift for 10 years now. But each year I give gifts to a small handful of people. I make my gifts so I don't give to a lot of people. In the last 2 years I have seen to a child I don't know a gift from the heart outside of the ones I make for.
You see I'm a woodworker and everyone I have given a gift love it because it was made for them from the heart. So you see Christmas isn't about whats under the tree but what is in the heart. The person that you may look down on because of gifts may be giving more than you know for.
Christmas has gotten to commercialized. What do you think of the one who gives of themselves to others? Why don't you try it this year and give of yourself to others forget the material things and do something for others you may be surprised. I can't begin to tell all the things I have done. Including cooking a meal and taking it to a family who wasn't going to have a Christmas meal. Think about that and all the ways that you could do for someone without buying gifts for under a tree.

Showing up to the party is more important than bringing gifts. If you bring food, thats even better. It's horrible to think less of a person just because they didn't bring any gifts.

It doesn't offend me at all.Last yr my family just pitched in for a turkey dinner.(we couldn't afford gifts)
It was the first yr I have never bought or received gifts,but it was fine with me.Christmas should be about love,not the gifts.

that they might be jehovah witness or just don't buy gifts at all for no reason.

They forgot , too busy , can't buy it , etc
Either way I'd rather have the people I love with me at that time , although a good ( expensive ) present is also appreciated
