cook and decorate then and quit whining.

I agree. People are so demanding, they TELL you what they want. A present shouldnt make or break you. Now youre going to think Im cheap but on X-mas my family exchanges names and heres the kicker! The limit is $2 and the present [ir presents] have to come from a dollar store. The recipient gets to keep one and the other present is donated to sick kids in the hospital at Christmas time. Its really neat to see what people come up with. Once I got a real walking time, another time a thing you use to grab stuff in high places. My favorite was a bottle in the shape of an apple that was green apple scented hand wash. My family got sick of the hype. We set down to a delicious meal with all the family and talk about what every body got.

When I was a child we were so poor we never got gifts for Xmas. I never really mind and hate that it is so commercialized. I just like to sit with my family and have a nice meal. No gifts no commercialization just family.
I feel like at Xmas its a nightmare, I hate spending the money, I hate the shopping. I hate EVERYTHING it stands for. I'm not a religious person either. Every year I think no f'ing wonder more people kill themselves around Xmas than any other time of the year!!!
I realize a lot of people enjoy it and thinks theres reason behind the bs but there isn't and I completely agree with you.

Christmas is for the young; Christmas is for the energetic. If you are neither, it is so tiring and stressful
Yes, it does seem silly to spend TONS of cash for gifts that may not even be wanted or appreciated.
Best gift: love or caring. Tell someone how much they mean to you. Do some chores for them.
It is time our culture move away from the "gimme, gimme" notions and learn to do with what one has or to help people.

Set a spending limit for yourself. Talk with others that you exchange gifts and let them know you don't want to break the bank and establish a limit.
My family plays the dice game with the adults where we each contribute 5 gifts under $5 a piece and then we roll dice to see who gets what. It's fun and takes the focus off of all the materialism.

I love Christmas. People give gifts because the 3 Wise Men brought Jesus gifts after he was born. You don't have to spend a ton of money if you don't want to. It's not mandatory to give people gifts.

God's greatest gift to the world is stupid? I pray that you have a change of heart before you die. The only thing "stupid" about Chistmas is that far too many people have lost the true meaning. Giving and receiving gifts is a tradition that goes back to the first Christmas, but far too many seem to think that it's all there is to Christmas.

I understand, but it isn't a complete waste of money if you buy the gifts for your loved friends and family, right? If you think differently than you're just being selfish. Don't worry about it to much and you don't have to get crazy expensive stuff. Just give something that comes from the heart.

No, I don't agree. Christmas isn't about the presents, but if you can't give with a glad heart, then don't give. Focus on family and on Jesus. If you're interested however, the tradition of presents arose from the Magi who gave gifts to Jesus as well as from us giving each other gifts because we care, like God gave his only begotten Son because he cared.-Scarlet

I love Christmast but it's not my favorite holiday. Thanksgiving is for family and eating, Christmas is about celebrating the birth of Christ. You don't ahve to give gifts, that's not what the holiday is about.

Dont play the buying things game. When i was younger and my children were small, I literally had nothing to give them for christmas and the only thing I could do was to make fudge. So that's what they got and they were satisfied with it. Now my son (who is an adult) will often ask me if I am going to be broke for Christmas and that is his little code to me telling me he wants fudge. The only person who is putting pressure on you to buy presents is YOU. Dont play the game.
