Do psychiatrists get paid well?

I'm going to be a sophomore in hs, and i'm really good at sciences. This is the first year i have seriously considered this career...is it a good one to do if your that passionate about it?

But the question really should be, why does psychiatry hold appeal for you? If it's because you like helping people with their problems, then you might consider psychology instead.

Because of the fees that psychiatrists charge, it seems that fewer and fewer of them do the actual therapy any longer. They tend to see patients to prescribe medications and they supervise care, but seldom do they do the actual treatment.

So, before pursuing it as a career, spend some time identifying what parts of it appeal to you. Then, you might want to consider a related field. Less money, but perhaps more fulfilling.

It's a great field to get into. A Psychiatrist gets paid so much because they are doctors.They have to go to medical school, so if you are very interested be aware that you would be spending a lot time in college. There are many fields in psychology that are just as rewarding and require less schooling.

If you are truly passionate about something , you don't care if you are paid for it or not
Realistically tho -you still have to pay the bills -if you know what I mean. I psychiatrist is a medical doctor and yes they are usually paid fairly well

Yes Quite they make good money and it is a wholesome career
