I think for affordabbility you might look at Arapahoe Basin of Loveland, but even these places aren't cheap. I think Vail has the best skiing in Colorado. For best prices you might want to take a road trip to Utah. Brighton, Alta, Solitude and Snowbird do have reasonable prices and the skiing is as good or better than Colorado.

Closest to Denver, via Boulder is Lake Eldora. Lake Eldora is about 20ish miles up Boulder Canyon. Eldora isn't a resort, just a ski area for the locals to make a quick trip to.
If you want some place larger, try Winter Park. You can take the ski train directly to the mountain if you want. Winter Park is one of my favorite places.

if you come from denver and you want the closes mountion and that is cheap then go to loveland. if you want good shopping in a village then go to vail. and the skiing at vail is the nicest resort. but it is expencive.

My advice is: keep an eye out for any place where there is snow. That's the best place to snowboard.

everything from green hills to mary jane.
awesome snow; great lodges; nice little town; great mountain.
a little more than an hour from denver...i think

vail is rly up market. avoid it if ur on a budget. Breckenridge is AWESOME. BEST BOARDING EVER. i went ther for spring, and it was phenominal. look up breckenridge colarado, but i dont know a website. x
