Paleontologists and scientists did research on this statement, and, from evidence of comparison of bones and characteristics, figured dinosaurs are the distant, evolutionary relatives of birds. This might as well be true, but for only a certain few dinos, such as the Archaeopteryx (which strongly resembled a bird, hence the shape, size, and feathers). I mean, if a bird evolved from the Supersaurus, well, then that would be a pretty wierd-looking (and big) bird...

Many paleontologists believe that birds descended from dinosaurs. Though there is still some debate, this belief is becoming widely accepted.

Are birds dinosaurs? No, descending from them is not the same as being a dinosaur, but they may be closely related.

The analysis of the bones of a Tyrannosaurus rex indicates that birds may be close relatives of dinosaurs. Soft tissue found inside the T. rex bones is very similar to the soft tissue produced by girl birds.
