Nobody has mentioned Mike Pinder of the Moody Blues (Mellotron Master), Richard Wright of Pink Floyd, Robert Fripp of King Crimson.
OK, so how about Nicky Hopkins (probably more studio credits than anyone who ever lived)? George Martin played many keyboard parts in Beatles albums and Pete Townsend of the Who with the VCS3 organ/synth?

I don't think that anyone could be mentioned before Keith Emerson. His ability coupled with his willingness to innovate brought the keyboard into the forefront of modern rock. Likewise, Jon Lord accomplished a lot.
