Very simple, because he's in a bowl and not in an at least 2.5 gallon tank with heater and filter as it was recommended to do
I had mine in a bowl for about 4 days before I bough a 5 gallon tank with heater and filter and live plants, and I saw a huge change, he is way more active then in that damn bowl

Well he is in a bowl...
Thats like somebody expecting you to do a cardio workout when you live in a closet. It simply cannot be done, at least not easily or comfortably.
It would be much more comfortable for the fish if you went to Walmart and bought a fish tank, not a bowl. For a betta I suggest no less than 2 gallon. You also need to purchase a filter and a heater. There are some really neat filters designed for small tanks. I use the Red Sea nano. It filters tanks up to 5 gallons. I also use a heater that heats tanks up to 5 gallons.
You can decorate the tank with colorful gravel, pretty silk plants, or even live plants if you like, and cute little hiding spots.
A betta is a tropical fish, and they need a temperature in the high 70s to thrive. You will also find that once you get the betta situated in his new heated and filtered (dont forget to cycle) tank, he will be much happier and more active. I promise, he will come to life if you just put him in the right conditions.

Hes in a bowl hes best kept in a 2.5+ gallon tank where there is more room, alot of plants, a filter, a heater and with proper water changes.
Never keep a fish in a bowl including goldfish these need 25gallons minimum.

he was probably acting up the first few days because he was just getting used to the new enviroment. i think now he's just acting normal. If you really think he needs exercise, put a mirror up to his bowl. It's a safe way for him to get exercise- he'll swim like crazy. But only hold it up for a few minutes- 5 at the most- or he'll get too tired out.

Well, I have a male betta...the is healthy but lazy! I've had him for about a year now and hes really always been lazy and lays around...except for at night he gets all frisky and flares all over the little tank..I have him in a gallon tank....He should be okay....If you have him in a really small bowl you may want to get a bigger one. Good luck with you fishy!!!

i think most betas are kept in too small of containers, i have a beta and its in a 5 gallon tank he is always swimming around exploring things and being a fish, if you keep your beta in a cup or a fishbowl with no plants or anything what reason would he have to move around? there would be no reason to move around.
