Locate your new office document, or your word processing program. With new office document, you can type a letter from your own format or locate a letter template, depending on the type and style you desire. If you don't know how create your own letter format, then pick a letter template, It will guide you through all steps of your letter writing, including how to print an envelope.
Make sure you do a grammar and spell check before you save and print. A last, go to files, select print, make sure your printer is on, loaded with paper, and you will be ready to go.

You just need to open document software, like Microsoft Word, Microsoft Works, or even notepad.
Obviously, notepad doesn't give you a lot of fancy extras, like special borders and such, but if you just need to print a recipe or something, it works fine.
If you need document software, you can get it for free from www.openoffice.org . It works much like Microsoft office.
Once you've created the document, just click on "File", and then choose "Print". The printer options window should open, and then you can choose your printing options. Choose the printer you want to you in the drop down box (if its not already selected) and then click OK when finished to print the document.
