So many styles, its hard to name just one.
I'd say the most accomplished ones, and the ones that have had the most influence on musicians who came after them would be.
Jimmy Page
Eric Clapton
Brian May
Ritchie Blackmore
Eddie Van Halen
Randy Rhoads
Stevie Ray Vaughan
Jimi Hendrix
Jeff Beck

There are several that come to mind;
Eddie Van Halen, Joe Satrioni, Carlos Santana.
There are others that are great but can't hold a candle next to the guys listed above, such as: C.C. Deville & Slash from Guns N Roses

There are so many greats but if I have to choose one I say Gary Moore, Steve Vai is technically superb of course but my favorites are Blackmore and Trower not as impressive as some but they speak to me. Uli Roth is another and not as well known. Van Halen great and infuenced a generation as did Hendrix before him.

Dimebag Darrell, he changed the face of rock, and in his death, I think alot of people realized how amazing he was, also, Buckethead is INSANE and Micheal Angelo Batio is amazing with a double necked guitar. Or Joe Satchriani or Yngwie Malmsteen, god, too many to name.
